WELCOME TO UNIQUE KIDS PRESCHOOL

Unique Kids Preschool (UKP) has been operating in the northwest quadrant of The City of Calgary since 1990. At UKP, we create a supportive learning environment where children feel welcomed, loved and ready to learn. UKP offers a structured theme-based program that is safe, organized, balanced, planned and flexible that helps children belong, gain trust, independence and initiate opportunities to explore and learn. Our classroom is bright, colorful and spacious, filled with natural light.

Unique Kids Preschool is a licensed preschool offering classes for 3 to 5 years old children. All classes are staffed by a certified teacher and an assistant. Staff members are qualified in Child Care First Aid.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

The philosophy that governs Unique Kids Preschool is based on the following principles:
  • "All children are unique". Children are unique individuals and bring with them their own experiences, skills and needs. It is imperative that each child is treated as an individual, coupled with respect, love and genuine care.
  • Providing a warm, loving, safe, secure, positive, welcoming and supportive environment that meets the social, physical, emotional, language and spiritual needs of children.
  • Encouraging active learning, creativity, independence, multiculturalism, inclusion, self-confidence, diversity, self-respect for one's self and others by providing a basis for positive interactions among staff, children, parents and the community.
  • Embracing children's every day experiences and consider further possibilities that can enrich children's care, play, learning, self-expression, discovery and problem-solving along with considering the context of family and cultural practices and traditions.
  • Parents are a vital aspect of our program. Parents volunteer and spend time in the classroom and are aware of the details of their child's day.
  • Enriching the knowledge of children to explore and learn about different cultures, backgrounds and festivities through parent involvement in our program.
  • Fostering a child's positive self-image and promoting a child healthy growth, socially, emotionally, spiritually, intellectually and physically.
  • Implementing positive child guidance to provide children a sense of security and protection by creating positive, safe and healthy environment.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

To each individual child, the specific skill sets that will provide an excellent foundation for all future education are:
